TEACHING EXPLOSIVES TECHNICIANS FIRST AID
The workers of the Explosives Technicians Service (Bomb squad) of the National Police of Ukraine, from the beginning of an anti-terrorist operation, go in rotations to eastern Ukraine. However, specialized first aid training is not given prior to their deployment.
From the 9th of February to the 10th, "Patriot Defence" is organizing a two-day Combat Lifesaver course for the service employees in Kyiv.
They are tasked with safety related to explosives and investigating pertinent criminal offenses. Due to this, critical situations arise often in the East, as well as in the other territories of Ukraine that they operate in.
Some detachments of the Explosives Technicians Service work in the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts. Every month Fighters go through a rotation: some head back to the East, others, coming from different oblasts of Ukraine, go work in the ATO for a month. Led by "Patriot Defence" instructors, the Combat Lifesaver course gave fighters first aid habits. When giving first aid under fire, stop the major bleeding, look over the wounded patient, work with blocked respiratory systems and evacuate casualties.
The Explosives Technicians were taught using international standards. After the end of the training each participant received an Improved First Aid Kit (IFAK) from "Patriot Defence".
